2018’s River of Light took place last weekend from 2nd-4th November. This years theme was ‘the elements’ with the popular event being sponsored by our new neighbours Royal Liver Building 360, a new tourist attraction being delivered by Heritage Great Britain planned for the Royal Liver Building opening next year.
Tens of thousands of people visited to watch the display, but none had quite as good a view as our special guests that joined us at The Venue at The Royal Liver Building for a stunning view of Titanium Fireworks fantastic finale display. The Mayor of Liverpool reserved The Venue specially for the display and invited members of the Mayoral 100 Club to join us for a drinks reception, during which guests gathered on our private, outdoor balcony to enjoy an uninhibited view of the waterfront and firework display.
The fireworks were set off from huge barges floating on the Mersey to a soundtrack played along the Mersey, where further entertainment took place as part of the festival including dance troupes, pirates and art installations representing the five elements of Chinese philosophy: water, fire, earth, metal and wood.
Sue Grindrod, chief executive of Royal Albert Dock Liverpool and chair of Liverpool Waterfront Business Partnership, said: “River of Light is a fantastic event for Liverpool and judging by last year’s hugely successful spectacular, audiences are yet again in for a visual treat this autumn.
“Not only does it attract tens of thousands of people to the city, it is a wonderful opportunity to show off the Dock and our incredible UNESCO World Heritage Waterfront to audiences across the world.”
The iconic Royal Liver Building Venue is available for private and corporate event venue hire including weddings and civil ceremonies.
